Mercedes ML63 AMG, official presentation in Los Angeles

Mercedes has just previewed the front end of the new ML63 AMG, a high-performance SUV that will be officially presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show, thanks to a new teaser

Finally, just as most of us more or less assumed, Mercedes will officially unveil its new ML63 AMG at the Los Angeles Auto Show. However, as is customary, to whet our appetite the brand has just given us a small preview in the form of a teaser that reveals certain details of its front end.

As you can see, compared with the “standard” ML-Class, this new high-performance SUV stands out for its new front bumper, which integrates much larger, squarer air intakes, curiously quite similar in some respects to what its direct rival, the BMW X5 M, has already presented.

Mechanically, although everything is still to be confirmed, the new Mercedes ML63 AMG is expected to use a new 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 capable of producing close to 520 hp with maximum torque of 550 Nm, a output very similar to that of the current Mercedes E63 AMG.

Even so, it should offer an optional high-performance package that raises output to 550 hp and maximum torque to 590 Nm. On the other hand, the component expected to send power permanently to all four wheels is a Speedshift MCT seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
