Mercedes SLA, a reality from 2013

Amid persistent rumours, it now seems that Mercedes has opted to put into production what is being called the little brother of the Mercedes SLK, a small sports car designed with the sole aim of challenging and, above all, taking a good slice of the market from vehicles such as the Audi TT or even the appealing Peugeot RCZ

If we go by the first rumours spread across the whole blogosphere, we would be looking at a vehicle once again based on the platforms of the new A-Class and B-Class, something we like on the one hand but, on the other (these platforms are planned for front-wheel-drive engines), we don’t like at all.

Even so, this should help keep the selling price somewhat lower, although we cannot lose sight of the fact that this would be a new Mercedes, so it would not be surprising if once again its price were set well above mainstream brands, as we like to call them in Spain.

Because of this, and to illustrate the article a little, it comes in handy to “decorate” it with images of a concept developed by the German star brand a little over 10 years ago, a concept named SLA Concept, and which we believe, although this is a different design, will still retain the same philosophy.
