Mercedes tests a system that tweets free parking spaces

It is well known that parking in some cities is an absolute nightmare, but apparently social networks such as Twitter could give us a hand in the future. This is how Mercedes Benz has seen it, having launched a pilot project that will allow tweeting free parking spaces through a system integrated into the vehicles themselves.
This project is just beginning to be tested with the Mercedes Class B models equipped with cameras and a recognition system that are capable of detecting an available parking space if they pass it at a speed below 36 kilometres per hour. When a free space is detected, the system publishes a tweet with a link to Google Maps showing the location of that parking space and its coordinates.
For the moment there is not much more information about the project, but if you want to get an idea of how it works, you can visit the Twitter account of the initiative called Tweet Fleet, where some results from the system tests in the city of Stuttgart are starting to be posted, although it has not been updated since December.
What is not very clear is which algorithms it can use to determine that a free space on the road is an available parking space, since it is necessary to interpret the signs. In any case, it seems normal that not much information is given about this, because it is the most innovative element of the system, since once the free space has been detected, it is relatively simple to tweet its location on a map, as this has already been thoroughly developed by software developers.
