Michelin X Energy SaverGreen tyre of the year

The magazine Neumáticos y Mecánica Rápida awards this prize every year, and once again Michelin has been honoured with the Tyre of the Year award. The innovation technology Michelin Durable Technologies, a set of manufacturing processes for truck tyres that reduce fuel consumption while maintaining a high level of grip and mileage, is responsible for the award.
The prize was presented in the Industrial Vehicle category for road transport. The NMR magazine wishes to recognise the efforts of manufacturers in research and development of high-quality products, contributing not only to their sales but also to safety, comfort and respect for the environment.
Since the launch of Michelin’s innovation programme back in 1995, advances in safety and fuel economy have made savings of up to 6% possible in 1999. This year, the Energy GreenSaver allows savings of up to 500 litres of fuel per year and nearly 2.5 tonnes of CO2 over the tyre’s first service life.
This award is the sixth that Michelin has received in the Industrial Vehicle category, and it certainly encourages manufacturers to keep researching in this field, in safety, comfort, grip and consumption alike. The Michelin Durable Technologies programme deserves congratulations, and so do the consumers who benefit from this reduction.
