MINI launches an app to control GoPro cameras

The growing popularity of GoPro cameras has sparked the curiosity of MINI. Cars have been the stars of videos recorded with these devices for some time, and British city cars have not escaped this trend. The manufacturer acknowledges that its models lend themselves to being both in front of and behind the camera and, for that reason, has just unveiled a simple way to take advantage of this with GoPro cameras.

It is a new free app for the MINI Connected infotainment system that allows these devices to be controlled from the car’s onboard computer. Installing the app on the onboard computer necessarily requires an iPhone, and it can only be downloaded from the Apple App Store, where it is available starting this month.

Next, for the computer to receive the camera’s signal, a WLAN connection must be established, which allows the device to be placed either inside or outside the vehicle. All camera functions, as well as its battery charge, WLAN signal strength and remaining recording time, appear on the color screen of the central console and are selected using its joystick or touch controller.

With MINI Connected, the user can choose whether to take single or burst photos, record videos with settings tailored to specific lighting conditions, and other options included in GoPro cameras. If the system is successful, even more recordings will soon proliferate on YouTube in which we will see MINI owners performing stunts with their cars.
