The new installment of Need for Speed, called Need for Speed Unbound, will arrive on December 2. It’s true that the Need for Speed series has been going through a few ups and downs lately. Payback wasn’t well received, but Heat managed to bounce back. Electronic Arts hasn’t given up and has signed Criterion, the developers of Burnout.

We got to see the launch trailer just a few days ago, and it stands out for its renewed visual style, which combines live-action imagery with environments and cars rendered in great detail, along with characters and visual effects created using the cel-shading technique, resulting in a distinctive identity.

This is the new Need for Speed Unbound

We’ve barely seen any details about the gameplay, but it’s clear that it will keep its focus on direct, fun, arcade-style driving. Techniques such as drifting and turbo use will also be available. By mastering all of this, you’ll be able to win every race.

As usual, it takes place in an urban setting, apparently at night. There will be police presence that you’ll have to escape from, and the trailer features rapper A$AP Rocky, who will play an important role in the story mode. The list of vehicles available at the start of the game has also been revealed (future DLCs will surely complete the lineup), and there will be around 150, with current and past models from brands such as Alfa Romeo, BMW, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Nissan and Porsche, among others.

The platforms on which Need For Speed Unbound will launch are PS5, Xbox Series and PC, making it the first exclusive release of the franchise for the new generation of consoles.
