New AMG models ready for sale

We tell you about the new models from Mercedes AMG, we review the 360 hp A 45 AMG and the new Mercedes C-Class 63 AMG “Edition 507” with a total output of 507 hp.

A-Klasse

The high-performance division of Mercedes-Benz, AMG, has several new products ready for sale, aimed at covering new niches and market needs.

The first launch that can already be ordered at the brand’s dealerships is the A45 AMG, the souped-up version of the new compact that has revolutionised the segment with its striking and avant-garde design.

Presented to the whole world at the Geneva Motor Show in early March, it features a turbocharged 2-litre, four-cylinder in-line engine, delivering 360 hp and 450 Nm of torque. Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, it sends all its power to the ground through an all-wheel-drive system that allows it to complete the sprint to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds. All of this with a homologated combined consumption of just 6.9 litres per 100 km.

Although it is already a sufficiently eye-catching vehicle in itself, the A45 AMG offers many customisation possibilities, among which the following stand out:

  • Carbon exterior pack
  • AMG aerodynamic pack

The first orders will reach their buyers in June.

Without leaving the A-Class, to celebrate the launch of its AMG version, a special edition called “Edition 1” has also been planned, which modifies only the car’s styling to give it an even more aggressive and striking look.

To achieve this effect, AMG has opted for custom vinyl graphics, a large spoiler on the upper part of the boot, as well as “lips” at the ends of the front bumper, which improve the vehicle’s aerodynamics, providing greater grip and control at high speeds.

The radiator grille is also modified to be sportier, as are the mirrors, both with red details.

Inside, there are also variations in the upholstery and colour combinations, all to add the distinctive touch typical of special and limited editions.

AMG’s latest novelty centres on the C 63. It is the “Edition 507“, a very special version available for all its body styles (saloon, coupé and Estate), which adds many new features in every respect.

Mechanically, the renowned 6.3-litre AMG V8 engine has been updated to deliver a total of 507 hp and 610 Nm of torque, giving it performance matched by very few cars, with a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration of just 4.2 seconds for the saloon and coupé, and 4.3 for the Estate version. The top speed also increases across all three bodies to 280 km/h, electronically limited. In addition, the dynamic package receives an improved braking system, made of carbon-ceramic composite, which helps these sports cars stop safely.

“Edition 507” versions will be distinguished from the rest thanks to new colour combinations and specific styling details. Furthermore, everyone who opts for these models will receive, when paying the at least 83,000 euros (price in Germany), a driving course taught by expert AMG instructors.
