New Class X Model with V6 engine ready for any situation

Mercedes will go on sale in October with its new high-performance Class X pickup, featuring a fabulous V6 engine and 258 CV.

The new Class X from Mercedes pickup, which will go on sale in October 2018, promises to be a great success for all those looking for a vehicle capable of travelling on almost any type of terrain, climate or situation. From the asphalt of the road to the gravel of a dirt track, or crossing a small stream, the new Class X promises to perform more than impressively with a V6 engine that delivers 258 CV, together with excellent permanent all-wheel drive.

The driver can select the engine and transmission response levels, from comfortable to sporty. This model will be available in October in the Progressive and Power trim lines from 55,964 EUR.

Superior performance

The 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine impresses with its great energy and power. Paired with a torque of 550 Nm, this Class X has a wide engine rev range, from 1,400 to 3,200 rpm, which gives incredible versatility at low engine speeds. This engine responds to any situation, whether a sportier driving style or off-road conditions in difficult terrain; it will not disappoint anyone, and its V6 engine always guarantees rapid and efficient acceleration.

It features a 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission, with steering-wheel shift paddles, which operates without interruption in traction force during gear changes. This improves driving on slopes or when towing a trailer. Gear changes are especially fast.

DYNAMIC SELECT, at the driver’s choice

This new Class X has a wide range of driving modes to choose from, thanks to the DYNAMIC SELECT system that comes as standard on the X 350 4MATIC. Such options are particularly rare in a pickup like this one, which makes us even more enthusiastic.

• Comfort: This mode is activated automatically when the engine starts. It provides a smooth throttle response that favours comfort, as well as early gear changes.
• Eco: The 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission shifts gears at especially low engine speeds. Ideal for saving fuel.
• Sport: The engine responds more immediately to throttle inputs. The automatic transmission makes use of the entire engine rev range to change gears, and shifts at higher revs. Without doubt a very suitable mode for achieving a more natural engine response.
• Manual: The automatic transmission can be operated manually using the steering-wheel shift paddles. This shortens shift times compared with Comfort and Eco modes. This mode offers a greater sense of sportiness, especially when combined with Sport mode.
• Offroad: This mode is suitable for driving over difficult terrain. It offers higher, flatter shift points and therefore a more precise and adjustable throttle curve. It is the most suitable mode for everyday work on the kind of terrain for which this pickup is designed.

Permanent all-wheel drive, proof against anything

The permanent 4MATIC all-wheel drive, with a low-range transfer case as standard and an optional rear-axle differential lock, ensures excellent performance and traction on a wide range of surfaces.
Three all-wheel drive modes are available: 4MAT for greater vehicle dynamics, 4H for better traction off-road and 4L for difficult terrain. The combination of a centre differential lock (0-100%), rear-axle differential lock and low-range transfer case delivers excellent performance both on and off the road.

The all-wheel drive system, long-travel suspension and a ground clearance of up to 222 millimetres ensure outstanding off-road capability. The Class X climbs 45-degree gradients with ease, fords rivers up to 60 centimetres deep and maintains its balance on gradients of almost 50 degrees.

Dynamic driving and comfort levels comparable to a Mercedes-Benz saloon

The Class X combines off-road ability with excellent on-road behaviour, recalling the brand’s passenger cars. An exclusive detail in its segment, the fitting of coil springs at the front and rear contributes to a high level of comfort. The comfort chassis design ensures a high level of on-road dynamism.

The comfort chassis is fitted as standard in all European markets. This component ensures a ground clearance of 202 millimetres. A chassis with 20 millimetres greater ride height is available as an option.

Outstanding safety

The Class X shares the impeccable safety systems of Mercedes-Benz vehicles. This pickup offers an incredible level of safety for a vehicle in its category. It has a highly stable body with a high-strength passenger cell, and its structure is able to absorb impacts effectively at both the front and rear. It includes seven airbags as standard, and I-Size child seat anchorage system for two child seats. It also includes active braking, lane departure warning and traffic sign assist. It further features a trailer stabilisation program that makes towing easier, as well as a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Two trim levels available on the X 350 d 4MATIC

The PROGRESSIVE trim line is aimed at men and women who want a robust pickup with greater style and more comfort features, serving as a “business card” for the company and, at the same time, as a comfortable and representative private vehicle.
