New Mercedes-Benz GLB: price, specs and equipment
We already know all the details and the price of the new Mercedes-Benz GLB, a model set to become the favourite compact SUV for families
At the end of summer we got to know the new Mercedes-Benz GLB, a compact SUV for the whole family. We now have news about the new member of the star brand’s crossover family, as all the prices of the new Mercedes-Benz GLB have been revealed.
This new family member has a key advantage over the Mercedes-Benz GLC: it allows a practical third row of seats to be fitted. This is available as an option and you will have to pay around 1,000 euros to enjoy it. If you do, the interior layout will be 2+3+2.
A very comprehensive standard equipment list
Although the third row of seats is optional, the standard equipment of the new Mercedes-Benz GLB is very complete. Therefore, we find the following elements:
The safety equipment is extensive, so as standard you will find a wide range of airbags: front, side, curtain and knee. In addition, there are numerous assistance systems such as the fatigue detector, rear parking camera, tyre pressure sensor, rain sensor with automatic headlights, cruise control and speed limiter, or High Performance LED headlights.
In addition, the standard equipment includes the Dynamic Select driving mode selector, keyless start system, automatic emergency call, digital radio, automatic air conditioning, front and rear USB connections, or the Easy Pack tailgate.
As for its styling elements, you get 18-inch alloy wheels in any finish and an upholstery that combines Arctic leatherette with black fabric. Of course, it also comes as standard with the MBUX infotainment system.
Although, as we have already told you, the standard equipment is quite complete, you can add the different equipment packs to configure the Mercedes-Benz GLB exactly to your taste. There are therefore five packages: AMG Line, Night, Advantage, Premium and Premium Plus.
In addition, to mark its commercial launch, Mercedes-Benz will offer customers the Edition 1 finish, which offers an outstanding price-to-equipment ratio.
These will be the engines of the Mercedes-Benz GLB
As for the engine range, the Mercedes-Benz GLB comes with three petrol alternatives and three diesel ones:
As for the petrol engines, there is the GLB 200 with 163 hp paired with the 7G-DCT automatic gearbox, the GLB 250 4MATIC with 224 hp and the 8G-DCT gearbox and, the most powerful in the range, the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC with the 8-speed AMG Speedshift DCT transmission.
On the other hand, the three diesel options are the GLB 200d with 150 hp, the GLB 200d 4MATIC with the same power as the previous one but all-wheel drive, and the GLB 220d with 190 hp. A common feature of these three variants is that they are all paired with the 8G-DCT automatic transmission.
The star brand has not yet revealed whether there will be electrified versions, so the Mercedes-Benz GLB has not been developed on the new circuit the brand has for developing autonomous and electric vehicles.
