New TerrainTech version of the Volkswagen Touareg

The Spanish range of the Touareg welcomes a new version that went on sale within the last few hours. It is the TerrainTech, a variant with greater off-road capabilities, available only with the 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine producing 245 hp. The following features were previously included only in the Off-road Technical Package, and only with the 239 hp TDI engine.
The Touareg TerrainTech offers the 4XMotion system instead of the familiar 4Motion, with a Torsen differential, which includes, in addition to the reduction gears, a lockable centre differential and an equally lockable rear differential.
The selector has five positions: On-road for driving on asphalt; Off-road for travelling over surfaces with low grip; Low engages the reduction gears. The fourth and fifth positions lock the centre and rear differentials, respectively.
This version also offers a greater climbing capability of up to 45 degrees, while the version equipped with the conventional 4Motion is limited to 31 degrees of incline. It also has a larger fuel tank, holding 100 litres compared with the 85 litres of the city version. Ground clearance increases by 10 mm at the front axle and 15 mm at the rear.
Prices for the TerrainTech version start at 64,540 € with the basic equipment level and from 67,430 € for the most complete equipment.
