Ariya Nissan Electric Cars SUV
The Nissan Ariya, ready to travel 27,000 kilometres from the North Pole to the South Pole
A unit of the small SUV from Nissan is being prepared to travel 27,000 kilometres from the North Pole to the South Pole, facing radical climates.

Adventure trips are something innate to the desires of many people. So it is no surprise that Nissan is proposing a great journey of this kind. The route will be from the North Pole to the South Pole and the protagonist, a Nissan Ariya. This electric vehicle is going to make this tremendous journey crossing 27,000 kilometres and offering its driver, Scotsman Chris Ramsey, an adventure he will not easily forget.
The Pole to Pole adventure will begin in March 2023 and will be carried out thanks to the adaptation of one unit of the Nissan Ariya. It must be capable of covering the 27,000 kilometres that separate the two poles. To do so, it will have to complete the route that will begin at the geographic North Pole.

Afterwards, it will cross North America, Central America and South America, and will be shipped to Antarctica. There it will reach the geographic South Pole. Along its route it will encounter vast desert areas where it will endure very high temperatures, but also other zones where it will face low temperatures, below 30ºC.
First sketches of the adventurous Nissan Ariya
The car that is going to undertake this adventure has been shown in some earlier sketches. The first thing we see on the modified Ariya is the tyres, larger and designed to face these extreme conditions. A new suspension will also help, additions to the bodywork to protect the vehicle when driving over difficult terrain, and some additional LED lights on the roof.

NISSAN ARIYA POLE TO POLE
No change to the electric drivetrain has been announced, so we expect to find the same motor and batteries. In this case, there are two electric motors producing a power of 290 kW, equivalent to 394 CV, and a maximum torque of 600 Nm. This adventure model is supposed to feature the highest-capacity battery in the range, at 90 kWh.
It will have the e-4ORCE four-wheel-drive system from Nissan, and a journey of this kind is expected to require many stops to recharge the battery. Alongside this unit will travel a standard Nissan Ariya e-4ORCE that will join the team as a support vehicle during the crossing of the American continent.
A committed driver
Chris Ramsey is a driver committed to electric cars. He has already undertaken adventures of this kind before. In 2015 he completed a 2,574-kilometre journey aboard a Nissan Leaf. He later used his own Nissan Leaf to make a trip that added up to 16,000 kilometres and became the first electric vehicle to finish the Mongol Rally.
With this challenge, Nissan and the driver hope to demonstrate that electric vehicles can withstand and overcome the most extreme conditions and the toughest tests. From the most severe cold to the hottest and most humid conditions, the Nissan Ariya is going to face the most radical climates across the entire planet.
