Nissan could develop an electric car with solid-state batteries in 2028. Do you want to know more?

Nissan would like to sell an electric vehicle with solid-state batteries in 2028. The solid-state battery from Nissan could deliver charging speeds of up to 400 kW. Many people believe that solid-state batteries are the future of electric cars.
Currently, Nissan is developing next-generation batteries in Japan and has already progressed from small button cells to larger cells. Its final solid-state batteries will have cells the size of a laptop. The automaker’s new battery also eliminates all liquid elements, something not all solid-state cells do.
David Moss, Senior Vice President of Research and Development at Nissan in Europe, has pointed out that the company aims to reduce costs by 50% compared to lithium-ion batteries, double energy density and offer three times the charging capacity, as well as its charging speed.
This is what Nissan electric cars could look like

“Can the liquid electrolyte be removed from the battery? This is where we believe we are leading. Some solid-state batteries still have liquid electrolytes, and that is a problem, since the liquid boils. The efficiency of that energy in storage and transfer, and the power you put into it, will be affected,” Moss has stated.
It is not clear in which vehicle the brand will install its first solid-state battery, but Moss suggested the company could present two battery packs of different sizes, including “one for really demanding users who need superior range.” As for charging speeds, they could reach 400 kW.
Everything points to the first Nissan model with a solid-state battery being based on a new platform and assembled in an updated factory. “When you commit to something like solid-state, you have to change the entire mechanism and vehicle architecture,” Moss added.

The development of Nissan’s solid-state batteries could arrive before 2028, since by that date we could enjoy series production of different models from the company. In addition, the brand continues to advance its existing lithium-ion technology. It is worth noting that Nissan will present a new generation of lithium batteries in the coming years and, in 2028, will continue with a lithium-ion battery that does not use cobalt.
