Nissan does not want to compete in the hybrid market

Despite presenting last year two hybrid prototypes, the Japanese company has reported that it has no plans to compete against the Prius and the Insight; instead, it will focus its efforts on developing electric compacts.
According to Nissan’s senior vice president, Andy Palmer, the Japanese manufacturer prefers to stick to the fight for dominance of the global hybrid market, because the company largely relies on the plans developed together with its corporate partner Renault.
These plans are based on the introduction of small electric models starting in 2010 in several countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Monaco, Ireland, Switzerland and China.
Just to refresh our memory, Nissan also reached an agreement with the Spanish government to promote the use of electric cars.
