Nissan introduces the Pure Drive range of eco-friendly vehicles

The Japanese manufacturer has joined the list of makers launching cleaner versions of their most popular models to improve their eco-friendly offering, several of which have featured at the current Paris Motor Show, such as Fiat or Volvo. The “Pure Drive” models from Nissan will go on sale in Europe and Japan from early next year, and will be the models with reduced emissions and fuel consumption.
For now, the vehicles in this range are those emitting less than 140 grams of CO2 per kilometre, and therefore include: Micra with 1.2, 1.4 and 1.5 petrol engines, Note with the 1.5 petrol engine, Qashqai with a 1.5 diesel engine, and Tiida with a 1.5 diesel engine, all of them manual.
From next month, models using the continuously variable transmission (CVT) gearbox, namely the X-Trail, Qashqai and Qashqai+2, will carry the Xtronic CVT badge. This transmission technology replaces traditional gears and cogs with a system of belts and pulleys that makes driving smoother and improves consumption and emissions, while still delivering the experience of an automatic gearbox.

Nissan intends to keep expanding the Pure Drive range with more models in the future, and its role will be important in Japan, a market where petrol engines until recently dominated.
