Nissan LEAF: first electric car to reach 400,000 units sold
Having launched the first mass-market electric vehicle in 2010, Nissan committed to becoming the world leader in the production and promotion of zero-emission vehicles, and with the LEAF it has achieved this.
The Nissan LEAF has led the way in electric mobility and comfort, to such an extent that its first customers were “pioneers” in this new movement towards electric driving.
Without focusing on the technical aspects of the LEAF, it is worth highlighting Nissan‘s work with governments and public services to support electric vehicles and everything they entail.
The world’s best-selling electric car
The figures speak for themselves: 400,000 customers have chosen the Nissan Leaf for its powerful and agile driving performance. The icon of Nissan’s intelligent mobility is achieving the goal of sustainable mobility.
However, it is important to highlight the work of Nissan Energy, which has championed the importance of electric vehicles, driving significant measures regarding charging zones and promoting second-life uses for batteries.
This work is demonstrated by the data from its drivers, who have covered more than 10 billion kilometres, the equivalent of 3.8 million barrels of oil per year.
In turn, Nissan LEAF is not only the best-selling electric vehicle in Europe but also the best-selling car in Norway. Available in more than 50 markets worldwide, it will cover 6 new markets this half-year, including Latin America.

The new Nissan LEAF
The second generation of the LEAF debuted in 2017 with a new powertrain, producing 110 kW of power and 320 Nm of torque.
Recently, a new powertrain model joined the range, the innovative Nissan LEAF e+, which offers greater power and 40% more additional range than its predecessor. Naturally, it also integrates the three pillars of Nissan’s intelligent mobility.
An intelligent mobility built on power, efficiency and intelligent integration. All of this is complemented by the ProPILOT system, which maintains speed and lane position, moves the car into a parking space, and accelerates and brakes.
