Nissan Leaf Nismo: finally, a mainstream electric car with a bold image

The Nissan Leaf is one of the most successful zero-emission vehicles in the industry, but its conservative design is undoubtedly one of its aspects that needs improvement. It is true that the new generation of the Leaf introduces a bolder aesthetic proposal than its predecessor, but if that still falls short for you, here we have the Nissan Leaf Nismo.

This spicy new version of the compact, which will be presented at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show at the end of October, introduces several changes to its chassis and control unit, with a more provocative interior and exterior styling.

The Nissan Leaf Nismo introduces several changes to its bodywork, including a new front splitter, side skirts, 17-inch sport wheels and an aggressive rear diffuser. It is important to note that none of these elements affects the vehicle’s aerodynamics, and therefore not its range of 370 kilometres (according to the NEDC cycle). Inside, we find several red-trimmed details which, together with sport seats offering greater lateral support, enhance the sporty look of the whole.

The Nissan Leaf Nismo is not a version that improves performance over the standard model, but it does include a series of electronic and chassis improvements that contribute to better vehicle performance. The car will continue to offer the 150 CV of the base model, but will feature a lowered suspension with firmer calibration and an improved control unit.

It is precisely this last element that will contribute to a more direct and forceful power delivery, although it should be noted that the priority of the Nissan is that performance improvements do not affect the car’s range. The Nissan Leaf Nismo will incorporate the revolutionary e-Pedal, a single pedal with which the car optimises the operation of its regenerative braking.
