Nissan shows its London taxi, the NV200 London Taxi

Nissan remains involved in a multitude of mobility projects. Proof of this is its commitment and interest in taxis in the world’s most important cities.
After fighting for the licence in New York, the Japanese firm is presenting its model for the British capital, London, these days.
Although the overall design has not been entirely modified, we do find parts that have undergone an update, as is the case with the front end.

Beauty is something to be judged on a personal basis, but it must be acknowledged that the NV200 London Taxi is not the most beautiful vehicle we have seen. The front has adopted—or tried to adopt—the classic lines of London taxis, so the grille loses the Nissan badge and becomes larger.
The headlights also change shape, now being fully circular. These modifications have been incorporated by the same team that designed the Qashqai and the Juke, and we are sure it will not leave anyone indifferent.

In the interior, which has not been revealed by the brand, we expect the typical modifications of a taxi, such as the separation partition, folding seats facing both directions of travel, or the enlarged luggage space.
Mechanically, Nissan has opted for a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, combined with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Although what has been sought above all is reliability, fuel consumption is not outlandish, with averages of around 7 litres per 100 km.

In addition, the Japanese company will also incorporate the electric variant that we have already seen on other occasions, based on the Leaf’s mechanics. Production of the NV200 London Taxi is scheduled for late 2014.
