There will be no new Dodge Magnum, and the new Viper is taking its time

Un Dodge Magnum del 2005

A few days ago the rumour went around that Chrysler might bring back the Dodge Magnum, the family cousin of the Charger and the Chrysler 300. The news is bad for the Magnum, since Ralph Gilles himself has announced that there is no chance at all of bringing it back, which can already be taken as official confirmation.

Meanwhile, the new generation of the Dodge Viper keeps people talking, although the truth is that it is already taking far too long. All Gilles has said about it is that it will probably have cruise control and more cup holders; in other words, something that very few people care about when it comes to a Viper.

And it’s not that Gilles knows nothing about the Viper. As SRT’s new head, the Viper and the Challenger will become the tools for the new direction he wants to give the battered SRT through motorsport.

The problem is that this kind of announcement does little to put the Viper back in the spotlight and attract potential future customers, who may look elsewhere among European or Japanese cars.
