The update affects the front end, the wheels and interior elements such as the centre console or the introduction of the Seat Portable System.

The most powerful version of the Ibiza finally receives the corresponding update for the model. Since the Cupra prior to the facelift had already laid the groundwork that Seat wanted for this variant, the 2013 model has barely changed. In fact, you have to look very carefully to find the new features. The engine is identical and is the only thing that has not changed.

The front end gains new sharper headlights with different LEDs and redesigned grilles. The latter reduce their difference from the Cupra compared with the conventional versions. As a result, its appearance is slightly more understated than the previous model, although the lower grille is noticeably larger. The rear features the new tail lights of the facelift and the wheels of 17 inches are different.

The cabin changes in some areas more than the exterior. For example, the seats are of a new design, with a white decorative line around the outline and without the logos on the upper part. Optionally, a two-tone upholstery can be ordered. The dashboard has different gauges, and the centre console receives a larger main screen so that it is easier to see.

The audio system has been completely renewed and the Seat Portable System device is added. The latter, located above the console, is removable and allows control of the traditional information and entertainment systems. Seat announces that in May 2013 the device can be updated so that it can connect to a smartphone and operate its functions through the former.

Although the 1.4 TSI engine remains the same, performance has improved subtly. The new Cupra needs 6.9 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h, three tenths less than before. And it reaches a top speed of 228 km/h, three kilometres more. Finally, average consumption has been reduced by 0.5 litres to 5.9 l/100 km. Seat will launch the new Ibiza Cupra in February 2013.
