The market for caravans and camper-converted vehicles continues to grow strongly in recent years. There are more and more innovative proposals, and electric mobility has a lot to say in this segment. A group of experts from Apple, Tesla, Cruise and Volvo has worked together to create an electric caravan called Pebble Flow.

This caravan will be presented in the coming weeks, during the Los Angeles Auto Show. And be warned, because according to its designers, it aims to offer the same experience as using an iPhone, if we were talking about mobile telephony. They also say they have designed “the technically most advanced travel trailer on the market“.

This caravan has a length of 7.6 metres, which provides good space to enjoy camping. It has a wide area with large windows that allow a 270º view of the surroundings where it is located. The clean look provided by the windows is enhanced with decorative details in black.

To make this caravan much more attractive and easier to use, it is equipped with an InstaCamp system. This allows the awning, access steps, lights and automatic level stabilisers to be deployed at the touch of a button. In the same way, they can be retracted and the vehicle is ready to get back on the road in a few minutes without problems.

As for its weight, a vehicle capable of towing 2,800 kg is required, so not every vehicle is suitable for venturing into the countryside with it.

An interior for enjoying camping

The interior of the caravan has a dining area with seating for four people. It also features a kitchen with an induction hob, a microwave and a fridge with considerable capacity. Opposite the kitchen there is a flip-up window that allows cooking outdoors, if desired.

Four adults can sleep thanks to two large beds. One of them converts into a lounge area or a mobile office. This has a Starlink connection. The bathroom has a toilet, washbasin and a shower with a screen that changes from transparent to opaque. The ceiling has LED lighting that imitates a starry sky, to create a sense of wellbeing during the night.

The trailer also features a 45 kWh battery, which allows the caravan to remain disconnected from the electrical grid for up to seven days. A solar panel delivering 1 kW has also been installed, which helps to extend time outdoors without an electrical connection. The Pebble Flow has two electric motors, which provide some mobility and assist the towing vehicle during towing.

This will allow the caravan to be parked remotely, manoeuvring by itself to fit into tight spaces. It is not fully autonomous, but it can cover a certain distance at low speed.

The starting price of this caravan is 109,000 dollars, although a 500 euro deposit must be paid in advance as a reservation. The price with all the extras is 125,000 dollars, and the planned date for the first deliveries in the United States is set for late 2024.
