Peugeot Motion & e-Motion, the electrified family of Peugeot
The range of electric and electrified cars from Peugeot now has a commercial name
Peugeot Motion & e-Motion. With this nomenclature we will recognise the future vehicles of the French brand. A new era begins now for the centenarian manufacturer, which is entering an unprecedented new technological phase.
From the new models bearing the Peugeot Motion e-Motion name, both the variants going on sale and battery electric car or hybrid versions of the range already on the market will use this suffix, which signifies much more than a shift towards another energy source.
Electric cars can not only be exciting but also fun. Just like traditional models that depend on fuel to operate. It is only necessary to adapt the driver’s philosophy to understand that a vehicle powered by an electric motor can deliver sensations of pleasure and enjoyment.
That is why Peugeot’s future cars adopt the term Motion & e-Motion.
The first Peugeot Motion & e-Motion
It was from the top echelons of the brand presided over by the PSA Group that the arrival in 2019 of the first electric model was announced in 2018.
The chosen model to open Peugeot’s range of electric and electrified cars will be the Peugeot 208 electric. A model that, despite keeping its name, we are sure will experience something similar to the Peugeot 508 saloon, with its hybrid variant as representative of this new group of electrified cars: they will keep the same name, but we will be facing an almost entirely new car.
The Peugeot 208 will be so new that its appearance will change radically. A sharper front end, where the light units and the front grille with a rejuvenated logo will take centre stage. The Peugeot lion, the brand’s hallmark, will look different. It may not be as retro as the one we saw at the end of last year on the flagship Peugeot e-LEGEND electric prototype, but it will possibly be a change that goes beyond the aesthetic.
Regarding the mechanics of the 2020 Peugeot 208, the initial engines will be the PureTech and BlueHDi petrol and diesel units respectively, and later the first version as the Peugeot 208 e-Motion will arrive.
Presentation of Peugeot Motion & e-Motion
It will be during the coming March, between the 5th and the 17th of next March, as one of the novelties at the Geneva Motor Show of 2019, that the official presentation of Peugeot Motion & e-Motion will take place.
The starting signal will be given at the Swiss event and, by 2023, all Peugeot models will have an electrified version. From then until that year, the current models will offer versions as hybrid cars, plug-in hybrids, battery electric and exclusively electric vehicles, demonstrating that Peugeot’s range of electric and electrified cars, the Peugeot Motion & e-Motion, bets on electric power as the energy source for its engines and operating systems.
