Polestar Precept: new electric car concept

The Polestar Precept is the new prototype from the Swedish brand that aims to turn the future of electric cars on its head.

Some time ago we brought you the first, scarce news about this new concept car. Polestar is a Swedish brand that belongs to the Volvo Cars Group and focuses on producing electric models to compete with the reference brands in this sector, such as Tesla. Although it is one of the great unknowns, it is undoubtedly a fundamental pillar of future electric mobility.

At that time, the only known data were that the model would have a wheelbase of 3.1 metres, which is quite spectacular. This figure of more than 3 metres of wheelbase is practically unheard of in the automotive market. Another thing we knew is that this car will focus its driving on autonomy as a priority. It will feature sensors and radars so the car can drive autonomously.

Similarities with the Volvo-Polestar

The fact that the Swedish brand belongs to the Volvo Cars Group means that models such as the Precept, or even the Polestar 1 and 2, have traits that remind us of models from the Volvo range. One of the strongest links of this Precept with Volvo models is its headlights. The light signature of daytime running lights and LEDs looks very similar across both models.

Backed by the reputation of Volvo, Polestar should take the opportunity to make itself known. For this reason, it has chosen to start this project from scratch and draw the silhouette of its new Precept from nothing, so as not to be constrained by a similar model or anything seen before. Looking at the images, which are still conceptual, we can glimpse a car that could well be the final production model.

Although this car does not currently seem likely to proceed to series production, it is being developed alongside the Polestar 3. This Swedish electric SUV will use Precept designs to set out an avant-garde design strategy. It will inherit the floor-mounted batteries, compact motors and spacious interior of its earlier models.
