Preview of the New York Show: Saleen S5S Raptor

Under the name S5S Raptor, Saleen will unveil a new sports car at the New York show, aimed at competing with the current crop of supercars in Europe.

The success achieved with the Saleen S7 and the Ford GT has led Saleen to make a strong push into the European market. The new Raptor will feature a 5.0-litre V8 running on E85 ethanol, and to keep its weight to a minimum the chassis will be made of aluminium with composite body panels. With this, its top speed is expected to exceed 320 km/h.
