Before you wonder why a company that makes electronics is showing a car on Highmotor, let us tell you that the Samsung QM7 is nothing more than the production version of an urban SUV that Renault presented five years ago, and of which we have already seen some spy photos.

At the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2005, the Renault Egeus was unveiled, an attractive sporty crossover that on that occasion had a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine producing 250 CV and a maximum torque of 550 Nm. It featured permanent all-wheel drive, a seven-speed automatic gearbox and sequential paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The Samsung QM7 is nothing more than the production version of the Egeus, which would go on sale in South Korea.

The QM7 will not debut in Europe, in case you were imagining it. The reason is that the Samsung QM5, later christened in Europe as Koleos, was not a great success for the brand with the diamond logo. Its launch in Korea is planned for 2012, but we still do not know whether the final version will even resemble the original Egeus. It is also said that an inevitable hybrid version will be available.
