Everything points to this electric SUV from the Chinese manufacturer also reaching the European market, and more specifically Spain, at some point next year.

NIO has just started deliveries of the Onvo L60 in China, an electric SUV that marks the debut of its new brand, Onvo. Currently, only the versions of this model equipped with a 60 kWh battery pack are available, with prices starting at 206,900 yuan -roughly 26 thousand euros at the current exchange rate-, but versions with greater range equipped with an 85 kWh battery pack are expected to reach the market in December as well.

The official presentation of the Onvo L60 for the Chinese market took place last May, and within just a few weeks orders were opened, thus following the trend of manufacturers in this Asian country of not letting much time pass between presentation and the start of sales.

Onvo, the new brand of NIO, is aimed at the family market, offering prices somewhat more accessible than those of equivalent models under the manufacturer’s main brand. The price of the Onvo L60, as we have already mentioned, starts at 206,900 yuan. However, there is also the option of buying the vehicle for 149,900 yuan, paying a monthly fee of 599 yuan -77 euros- for the rental of the battery pack.

This is, therefore, a fairly competitive price considering that, for example, the Tesla Model Y is sold in China from 249,900 yuan – around 32,250 euros.

A version available for every type of customer

As for its technical specifications, the version of the L60 with a single electric motor delivers 240 kW of power, with 305 Nm of torque, allowing it to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 5.9 seconds. Additionally, a version with dual electric motors and all-wheel drive is also offered, with a combined power output of 340 kW and 440 Nm of torque, which reduces the time needed to reach 100 km/h to 4.6 seconds.

Both versions feature a 900-volt architecture. With the standard 60 kWh battery, the L60 achieves a range, according to the manufacturer, of 555 kilometers under the Chinese CLTC homologation cycle. With the higher-capacity battery pack, which will be available at the end of the year, the range will reach 730 kilometers CLTC.

NIO has set itself the goal of delivering 20 thousand units of the Onvo L60 this year, and plans for monthly production to reach this same figure in the near future. The company currently operates two assembly plants in Hefei, in Anhui province, with a production capacity of 10 thousand vehicles of NIO and another 20 thousand of Onvo per month, according to the company’s chief executive, William Li.
