The PSA Group has announced that it will build the group’s MPVs and those of General Motors in Zaragoza, under a manufacturing agreement. The agreement provides for PSA to supply the engines, with the vehicles reaching the market in 2016.

General Motors and PSA Peugeot Citroën have announced that, as part of the existing alliance agreement, the segment B MPVs of the two companies will be manufactured at GM Espana’s Figueruelas plant in Zaragoza, based on a PSA Group platform.

This programme is one of three projects agreed and signed by both partners in December 2012. It had previously been rumoured that most of the French consortium’s models would be built at the German Ruesselsheim plant, which in the end did not happen.

According to the press department of the PSA Group, the Opel team in Ruesselsheim will lead the development and execution of the engineering for this joint project. PSA Peugeot Citroën will supply the powertrains for all applications, and the first vehicles will go on sale at the end of 2016.

The PSA-GM alliance is based on a position of balance; the vehicles of the two companies will be very different, but fully consistent with their respective brand characteristics and with their corresponding offerings for each brand’s customers.
