Renault Clio R.S. 18: a street Clio dressed as a Formula 1 car
Renault Sport is launching the Clio R.S. 18, a limited edition inspired by the single-seater with which the brand competes in the Formula 1 World Championship.
Motorsport fans, lovers of sporty driving and collectors now have a new car to set their sights on. Renault Sport will launch the Clio R.S. 18 in Europe during the first half of 2018, a limited edition of the Clio RS featuring special decoration in the yellow and black colours of the Renault Formula 1 team.
The starting point is the Renault Clio R.S. 220 EDC Trophy, the most powerful version of the Clio range, with a 1.6 turbo 4-cylinder engine delivering a maximum output of 220 CV, paired with a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. For the Clio R.S. 18 there is no “extra vitamin ration”. Besides its energetic delivery of power, the engine stands out for the distinctive sound produced by the standard Akrapovic exhaust. The chassis settings specific to the Trophy versions are also retained, with a lowered body and firmer damping compared with the rest of the Clio R.S. range.
What really changes on the Clio R.S. 18 are the design details. Besides wearing the R.S. 18 badge, the bodywork is painted black with yellow accents contrasting on the front bumper apron and the sides. The 15-inch spoke wheels are exclusive, with a black finish and the yellow diamond logo at their centre. Inside, besides the plaque bearing the limited edition number, decorative carbon fibre elements are added, along with a steering wheel trimmed in leather and Alcantara.
