Rolls-Royce confirms the name 'Ghost' for the production 200EX/RR4
The chief executive of Rolls-Royce, Tom Purves, announced today at the press conference held at the Shanghai Motor Show that the production version of the 200EX prototype, also known as RR4, will be called Ghost. It therefore comes very close to the rumours that it would revive the legendary “Silver Ghost” name from the early 20th century, though this time without the “Silver”.
The “smallest” of the Rolls-Royce range was revealed in concept form at the last Geneva Motor Show, and its appearance will differ little from the final model, which is expected at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Its engine was also announced last month. Production will begin shortly afterwards at the British Goodwood plant, on a line dedicated exclusively to the Ghost. It will, however, share paints, woods and other materials with its bigger sibling, the Phantom. Tom Purves has also confirmed that the Ghost will come in several variants, just as the Phantom does.
