Rolls Royce wants an SUV and a Roadster with a V16 engine

Rolls Royce plans to launch three new models over the coming years. The first, a 5-metre coupé, will be presented at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. Later on, a Premium SUV and a two-seat Roadster with a 9-litre V16 engine are expected to arrive.

Rolls Royce Phantom

Since the former Rolls Royce was acquired by the BMW Group at the end of the last century, this English luxury brand has undergone changes, such as a wider range of models to choose from, which has had a direct impact on sales. That is why the executives at BMW want to improve the offering with the arrival of three new vehicles.

The first of these will be the Wraith, a coupé based on the “smaller” Rolls Royce Ghost, which will be presented in a few days at the 2013 Geneva Show. It is no surprise that would catch anyone off guard, but what is surprising is the future appearance of a Premium SUV that would compete directly with the next crossover from Bentley, the EXP F 9.

Lastly, we would have the arrival of a two-seat roadster equipped with a 9-litre, 16-cylinder engine arranged in a V. It is not the first time we have heard of this engine within Rolls Royce, since this unit was used in the early development stages of the Phantom, although it was later discarded. The chassis would be made entirely of aluminium, drastically improving the power-to-weight ratio.
