Seat Tarraco: the future of Seat goes beyond the new SUV

The Seat Tarraco is the first of the many novelties that Seat is preparing, which has announced that it will launch a new car every six months from now until 2020. Among them, more SUV models and an electric car.

Seat has presented spectacular financial results for 2017. With a total of 468,000 cars registered, Seat reached a new record in turnover, and increased its profit compared to 2016 by more than 21 percent.

And alongside the financial figures, Seat also revealed its plans for the future, which anticipate some very busy years. The Spanish brand announces that it will launch a new car every six months until 2020, either completely new models or variants of existing ones. The first will be the new Seat Tarraco, an SUV that will sit in the range above the Seat Ateca, and which shares its platform with the Skoda Kodiaq and the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. It may therefore have three rows of seats and seven seats. In fact, this new model will be built in Germany, in the same factory where the Tiguan is produced.

New SUVs, hybrids and electrics

With the new Seat Tarraco, and the recent arrival on the market of the Seat Arona, Seat’s SUV range will be far from complete. At the lower end there will be a new member, in this case a CUV or crossover. A kind of SUV with coupé styling and a sporty line, building on the successful idea of the Toyota C-HR. Not forgetting the CUPRA Ateca, which will arrive at the end of 2018 as the representative of the most sporty SUVs.

CUPRA Ateca

And that’s not all. For 2019 the new generation of the most important model for the brand’s future is planned, the Seat León. A car that will also become the first Seat model to offer a hybrid propulsion system. For the first electric Seat car we will have to wait until 2020. The brand’s plans are unknown, but we would bet on a car in SUV format, with a minimum range exceeding 500 km. Time will tell.
