Taking advantage of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, SEAT took part in this technology event and made it clear that connectivity will be one of the key arguments with which it will move in the coming years. In fact, the Spanish brand wants 2018 to be the start of a surge in connectivity across its models that puts it at the forefront of these kinds of devices and systems, which will help drivers of its cars enjoy an excellent service.

At present, these connectivity systems are being developed by the brand’s engineers, who want to offer a digital ecosystem that allows the driver to improve the driving experience and make getting around the city much more pleasant. To do so, they are working to provide real-time traffic information, as well as the ability to book restaurant tables, locate petrol stations and other features that are already present in other brands but were missing from the Spanish brand’s cars.

In addition to Seat_1real-time traffic conditions, a predictive driving system will be incorporated. This will make it possible to anticipate traffic jams and offer the driver alternative routes to avoid these trouble spots, allowing drivers to reduce journey times around the city. All these intelligent mobility solutions will be developed in the laboratory that the Group Volkswagen will inaugurate in Barcelona and which will be run by SEAT.

MetropolisLab: Barcelona, the sixth technology facility of the Group Volkswagen, which has five more in cities such as San Francisco, Wolfsburg, Berlin and Munich. Initially, 23 specialists will work there, whose mission will be to create mobility and connectivity systems, developing algorithms that improve the connectivity services SEAT wants to offer. Barcelona’s proximity will allow the developments to be integrated seamlessly. In addition, they will work with a small fleet of 10 eMii, the electric model designed for car-sharing, which will present an interesting alternative for urban travel.

At this event, SEAT will present its news in a series of talks§h21§, but it will also offer several cars equipped with connectivity systems, which will demonstrate everything that can be on board SEAT models within a few months.
