Sköda, one of the brands taking part in the event that VW organises every year to showcase its most sporting creations at Wörthersee, has unveiled one of the models it had already announced it would bring to Wörthersee. This is the Sköda Rapid Sport.

Although Sköda is one of the cheapest brands in the VW Group, that does not mean it doesn’t direct part of its efforts towards competition and sporty versions. One only has to look at the success of its RS variants, among which the Fabia RS and the Octavia RS stand out.

Let’s recall that the Sköda Rapid is a recently launched model, developed jointly with the Seat Toledo, with the aim of fulfilling the role of a spacious, affordable and quality saloon for those who have large space needs but do not want to pay the premium of a larger saloon.

This eminently practical approach does not mean the brand gives up on concepts such as sportiness, and this is where this new prototype from the Czech brand comes into play. Joining models of the calibre of the VW Polo R, or the Design Vision GTI, now it is the turn of the Sköda Rapid Sport, which probably gives us a preview of the look of the Rapid’s RS production version.

This prototype stands out from its road-going siblings thanks to a modified bodywork, mainly in the wings, which have been widened to accommodate the huge 19-inch wheels. The suspension has also been lowered to give the Rapid Sport a much more sporty and aggressive look. Painted in a two-tone red-grey finish, the rear also features novelties such as redesigned tail lights or a lower diffuser with integrated exhaust outlets.

Inside we find new Recaro bucket seats and a much sportier steering wheel. In short, a good appetiser of what the future Rapid RS could be.
