Smart ForTwo Electric by Brabus

Brabus is bringing to Geneva an electric version of the Smart ForTwo “Brabus-style”; 60 kW of power instead of the 30 kW of the Smart Electric.

Smart has already spent three years “testing” the Smart ForTwo Electric, but for some reason that we surely don’t see, the urban electric car never quite makes its debut. Last year it had begun delivering electric models to various people in Europe and the US who must have completed a year of trials, counting the delivery of the first and isolated unit to a private customer.

However, Brabus now also takes on the little one and has tried fitting an electric motor very much in the tuner’s style, as Brabus has doubled the bet, fitting an electric motor twice as powerful as the Smart electric that the Smart itself has been testing all these months: 60 kW versus 30 kW.

Brabus’s electric Smart also incorporates a firmer and sportier suspension, together with a lowered ride height of the bodywork, which slightly reduces the centre of gravity. Another detail Brabus didn’t want to leave out of this very special Smart is a sound module, which imitates the noise of an engine to alert pedestrians.

Where the gear selector via the paddle shifters on the steering wheel used to be, the same paddles will now be used for other purposes, since the driver can control the energy recovery system from there. A clever way of keeping the selector function of the now-absent transmission in this electric model.
