The headline of this news story reflects a thought that, at first glance, nobody would have. But human ingenuity is boundless, and its ideas are as surprising as shooting a pornographic film in a Tesla driving autonomously.

The autonomous driving mode Autopilot of Tesla has given rise to many incredible situations, such as the case of the drunk driver of a Tesla caught red-handed, who could think of no better excuse than claiming that his Tesla was the one driving and not him… The fact that a car can drive autonomously can be very beneficial for making good use of the time we spend on car journeys from home to work, from work to the children’s school, etc.

When we talk about making good use of time, we mean watching a film, getting through a backlog of work, or helping our children with their schoolwork. However, the human mind is often twisted and wants to go one step further. So, what happens if a pornography producer orders a ride-hailing car and the driver of the brand-new Tesla Model S activates Autopilot? Realising that the driver only has to keep an eye on what the car is doing can open up a world of possibilities.

Well, this is exactly what has happened in a video of this kind. The clip has gone viral on a “spicy” video site, as it shows a porn star, Taylor Jackson, having sex in the car while it is moving. According to the producers, the scene was filmed following a strict safety protocol, although if we are over 18 and stop to watch it, the protagonists seem to be more concerned with themselves than with paying attention to the car.

Autopilot on a Tesla is a driver-assistance system, not an autopilot

Tesla has always described Autopilot as a driver-assistance system, never as a fully autonomous assistant. For this reason, the brand advises against using the vehicle’s autonomous mode without paying attention to the driving at any time.

The cars from Elon Musk’s company feature advanced hardware and software that allow them to operate with the autopilot system. Tesla vehicles have a total of eight cameras capable of providing a 360-degree view, giving them a field of vision of up to 250 metres.

In addition, the company fits its vehicles with twelve ultrasonic sensors to complement the cameras’ vision. This allows the car to detect objects at a distance that can be up to twice that of a camera. Furthermore, Tesla cars have a radar at the front that detects heavy rain, fog, dust or another vehicle.

Therefore, filming a pornographic video, or simply having sex in a Tesla while Autopilot is in control, is not advisable. This practice can be genuinely dangerous both for those who want each other so badly they cannot wait to get home to show it, and for other road users.

Penalties for having sex in a car

The Traffic Law has no section on it, nor are fines contemplated for having sex in the car. However, do not think this means there is impunity in this situation. The real meaning is that the fine may vary, so if passion stops you from thinking clearly and a Civil Guard officer sees you, the consequences may leave you asexual for life.

However, there are some clear circumstances in cases of this kind. For example, in the case of oral sex in the car, the driver will be fined for reckless driving, one of the fines that removes the most points, as well as for refusing a breath test. Both actions have similarities: they can pose a serious danger on the road, both carry financial penalties and, yes, the similarity we are all thinking of.

A few months ago it became known that a couple from Vitoria took advantage of a car breakdown to satisfy their sexual appetite on the hard shoulder of the Basque motorway AP-68. The couple was fined by the Traffic Guard of the Civil Guard, and the ruling has now been made known: a fine of no less than 4,800 euros.

Therefore, be very careful in the car with hot-headedness and, if you find yourselves in that state, do what is done with the car: stop in a safe place and let the engine cool down.
