SsangYong E100: SsangYong's future electric SUV
SsangYong’s first electric car will be an SUV, it will have a range of more than 300 km, it will arrive in 2020 and it will be based on the e-SIV prototype.
During the presentation of the new SsangYong Korando, the Korean brand confirmed some of the details of what will be its first fully electric car, internally known as project E100 or Korando E100. A model that is expected to reach the market in 2020.
And if it does so with the value for money that the new Korando stands out for, it will undoubtedly be an alternative to consider among the electric SUVs arriving in 2020.
190 CV engine, up to 420 km of range (NEDC)
Exteriorly, the future electric Korando will closely resemble the e-SIV prototype you can see in the images. Its dimensions will be compact: 4.44 metres long, 1.86 wide and 1.62 high, with a wheelbase of 2.67 metres. Dimensions that, thanks to the interior layout made possible by electric propulsion, allow for a spacious cabin and a large boot capacity.

Under the front bonnet, the electric Korando will fit a 190 CV motor, allowing for great responsiveness and acceleration, as well as reaching a self-limited top speed slightly above 150 km/h. Meanwhile, the battery capacity, manufactured by LG, reaches 61.5 kWh.
It is still very early to define performance figures, although SsangYong anticipates a range of 420 km. That said, this figure is based on the NEDC cycle, so the WLTP range will be closer to models such as the new Peugeot e-2008, which stands at 320 km.

SsangYong’s first foray into the growing electric SUV segment looks promising. And it will not be the brand’s only electric car, as it is immersed in an interesting process of renewing its existing range and launching new models.
