Students from Skoda will unveil a prototype pickup based on the Kodiaq
35 vocational training students, working alongside veteran engineers, will transform the Skoda Kodiaq into a dynamic two-door pickup
This is the sixth prototype from the students of Skoda since the project began in 2014, demonstrating the high standard of education provided at the vocational school located at the Mladá Boleslav plant.
Skoda Kodiaq was chosen for its large wheels, well-defined lines and surfaces, which leave plenty of room for artistic expression. The pickup prototype will be presented to journalists and the public in June 2019.

Pickup version of the Skoda Kodiaq: the student prototype
Founded in 1927, the Skoda school offers three- and four-year courses, with high training standards and state-of-the-art equipment. These advantages benefit students who will go on to become employees.
In turn, the students working on this pickup project for the Skoda Kodiaq are reaching the peak of their training. It is undoubtedly an opportunity to showcase their creativity and talent as car designers, even though they are still in the learning phase.
Likewise, this initiative carried out by Skoda is a perfect opportunity for those who aspire to design and develop vehicles, first and foremost under the guidance of a global car manufacturer.

Previous projects
Since 2014, a new prototype has been built every year. In the initial phase of each project, the students observe the brand’s design chief, Oliver Stefani, and his team.
Consequently, the first prototype was the Citijet, based on the Skoda Citigo. It was followed by the Funstar, a pickup based on the Fabia. The Rapid Spaceback, in turn, provided the basis for the Atero coupé.
In 2017, the Skoda Citigo became the Element electric prototype. Finally, in 2018, they built the Sunroq convertible SUV, based on the Skoda Karoq.
