Subaru Forester 2018: more preventive safety, same all-road essence
The new Subaru Forester is now on sale and includes several preventive safety features as standard.
The new Subaru Forester is now available at dealerships. Since its launch 21 years ago, the Forester has been the best-selling Subaru model worldwide, and in Spain it has accumulated more than 9,000 units sold since its launch. In 2018, the mid-size SUV from Subaru arrives with important new features aimed at offering a higher level of safety both on and off the tarmac.

The major new feature: the Eye Sight preventive safety system
Among the main new features of the 2018 Subaru Forester is the EyeSight system. This preventive safety device is fitted as standard on all petrol versions of this model and includes eight driver assistance functions: pre-collision braking, pre-collision brake assist, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, accelerator control, skid warning, and front vehicle departure warning.

Two other driver assistants: Rear Vehicle Detection and Side View Mirror
In addition to the Eye Sight system, the new Forester includes the Rear Vehicle Detection and Side View Mirror devices in all Executive and Executive Plus versions. The first of these uses radar sensors placed at the rear of the car to warn of the presence of vehicles in the rear blind spots, when changing lanes and when reversing, through a warning light in the exterior rear-view mirrors and an audible indicator. For its part, the Side View Monitor uses a camera located on the underside of the passenger-side rear-view mirror to show on the central screen the lateral blind spot that the driver cannot see when manoeuvring, with the aim of increasing visibility and safety during low-speed manoeuvres.

The mechanical robustness of the 2018 Subaru Forester
Mechanically, the mid-size SUV from Subaru includes as standard the Symmetrical-AWD all-wheel drive system, a range of low centre-of-gravity boxer engines (the same type of powerplant used by Porsche in the 911 or the Cayman) and a Lineartronic automatic gearbox. All of these elements have been developed exclusively by Subaru for its range of models.
