Surprise sketch of a Porsche 928

A relaunch of the Porsche 928, adapted to today’s times, would be a masterful move for Porsche. So much so that we no longer regret the existence of the Porsche Panamera, since this could perfectly well be a 928 “in the style of the Panamera” or perhaps the other way around.

Either way, Porsche quietly leaked this sketch of a 928/Panamera Coupé on one of its corporate sites, as if to get us all into a buzz of debate over what could be a sort of 928 for the future. And they have succeeded, since speculation has been the order of the day all weekend long about this drawing.

At first glance, the formula seems simple and predictable. Take a Panamera, make it a coupé and out comes a 928, with the Panamera’s V8 engine, of course. And surely with the energy-recovery system that Porsche fitted to the Panamera as standard equipment on all V8 models in recent days. To be clearer, only the water.
