Tata Motors is finding it extremely hard to sell the Nano

Things are not going the way Ratan Tata dreamed, and the Tata Nano is failing to meet certain sales expectations that had been set for it. No complete official figures are available, but during some of the past months the Nano is said to have not reached 1,000 units sold in its home country.
The strategy the Indian manufacturer will use is to produce more cars to flood the market. To do so, it plans to expand production at one of Tata’s plants and to open new dealerships in six new states of India that did not yet offer the little car for sale. An agreement has also been prepared with 26 new banks to offer financing so that more people can buy the Nano.
All of this comes to mind if we recall the almost exaggerated expectation that the Nano had created, a car that would dominate the low-cost segment, as Tata Motors had promised. And even in India, where a good number of brands have already opened new dealerships and offices, the car is not attractive enough given the competition and the better offers than the Nano.
Time will tell whether the Nano can reach Europe and even the USA, but from what has been seen so far, future prospects are not the best.
