The 2020 Shelby Mustang GT500 will be the most powerful and fastest yet
2020 promises to be exciting. The quintessential Shelby Mustang icon, the new vehicle in the GT500 series, is set to hit the market and, according to the brand’s own statements, it will be the fastest and most powerful car ever built by the manufacturer.
From the moment Ford began selling the GT350 and the new GT350R, fans knew that the crown jewel would soon arrive, the return to the most legendary of all Mustangs.

This new version of the GT500 comes with a 5.2-litre V8 engine that promises to shake the foundations of what is known as “street legal“.
With a massive opening in its grille, providing twice the cooling of the Shelby GT350, along with its imposing aerodynamic package and a large, well-judged rear spoiler, the new GT500 promises to deliver performance superior to that of its older siblings.
Ford has not revealed all the details of the highly anticipated flagship of the Mustang range, but it has admitted that it will produce 700 CV, allowing it, among other things, to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds, which translates into covering the quarter mile in under 11 seconds.

The 5.2-litre V8 engine will use the same block established for the GT350 platform. The supercharger paired with the engine is simply enormous, with a total capacity of 2.65 litres. That is bigger than the one you can find in the Hellcat or the Camaro ZL1, although slightly smaller than the one fitted to the Demon.

With these numbers it is no surprise that Ford itself dares to make such ambitious claims, such as stating that it will be the most sophisticated vehicle, powerful and fast that they have built to date.
As for technology and its interior, the new Mustang GT500 scores highly. Attention to detail is evident in its design. From the carbon-fibre-covered central console to custom and exclusive colours such as Dark Slate Metallic, these will be some of the options available.

It will also feature a 12-inch high-resolution LCD screen and a B&O Play Premium sound system to enjoy your music. In addition, connectivity with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is included. Some of the brand’s systems, such as Ford Pass Connect, come fitted as standard.
The new colours in the 2020 GT500 range go from Red Hot to Twister Orange or the iconic Shelby silver. Naturally, the classic stripes that characterise the Mustang will be available in the finish of your choice.

As standard, the Ford Mustang GT500 comes with homologated special tyres made by Michelin to meet the sports car’s needs, specifically the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S. For those who want to make the most of it on track, the top-of-the-range Michelin tyres, the Pilot Sport Cup 2, are also available.
For its gearbox, Ford has opted for a seven-speed automatic with dual-clutch. It will be able to shift gears in just 100 milliseconds, and of course it will include several of the already classic driving modes, such as sport, normal, track, comfort, etc.

Although there is not much more information on this, we do have plenty of images and even a video that we will share with you now so you can appreciate it.
