The 2024 edition of the Wuling Binguo arrives on the Chinese market with some improvements

SAIC-GM-Wuling has begun selling the 2024 Wuling Binguo in China, incorporating several cosmetic and technical improvements to this electric city car compared with the previous model. Although the design of the Wuling Binguo has not changed significantly since its unveiling in February 2023, the 2024 model is now offered in multiple versions with different ranges: Light with 203 km, Enjoyment with 333 km, Lingxi Connected also with 333 km and Lingxi Premium with 410 km.

The prices of these versions are 56,800 yuan for the Light version –which amounts to roughly 7,300 euros at current exchange rates-; 70,800 yuan for the Enjoyment version –around 9,100 euros-; 74,800 yuan for the Lingxi Connected version –about 9,600 euros– and 84,800 yuan for the Lingxi Premium version –10,900 euros-.

Additionally, the Light version is now available in a new paint colour called Snow Mountain White. Meanwhile, the Enjoyment, Lingxi Connected and Lingxi Premium versions include in this 2024 edition a new interior colour option inspired by nature, which the manufacturer has named Skyclave Green. In addition, these versions share a new water-cooled powertrain that is smaller and lighter than the one used previously.

The new powertrain offers better heat dissipation and a power density increased by 0.8 kW/kg. Although it still delivers the same 50 kW, it allows a top speed 10 km/h higher, making it possible to reach 130 km/h. The Light version, on the other hand, retains the 30 kW powertrain, with a top speed of 100 km/h in this case. It should be noted, however, that this entry-level version of the 2024 Wuling Binguo is now much more attractive, thanks to the addition of DC fast-charging support. It is now possible to increase the charge of the battery pack from 30 to 80 percent in just 35 minutes.

Battery pack capacity by version

The 2024 Wuling Binguo uses the same battery pack as the previous model. Thus, in the 203 km range Light version the battery pack capacity is 17.3 kWh. Meanwhile, the Enjoyment and Lingxi Connected versions fit a battery pack of 31.9 kWh capacity, and the Lingxi Premium version one of 37.9 kWh.

Last March, SAIC-GM-Wuling reported that the Wuling Binguo has become the new benchmark in the small electric car segment in Asia, with 250,000 units sold in total. However, some recent reports published by Chinese media indicate that this figure has already risen above 280,000 units. Besides China, where it competes with the BYD Seagull, the Wuling Binguo is available in other Asian markets, including Indonesia and the Philippines. In the Philippines, this small electric vehicle is sold under the name Wuling Bingo.
