The Alfa Romeo Giulietta GLP Turbo arrives in Spain

The Alfa Romeo GLP will be available in Spain from €24,900, although we can buy it for €22,600 if we purchase it during the promotion.

Little by little, as fuels such as electricity or hybrid systems gain ground, the use of LPG-powered engines is becoming increasingly visible in our country. LPG, or Liquefied Petroleum Gas, is a mix of butane and propane, and it can already be bought at more than 100 service stations along our roads. Moreover, an increase is expected in the coming years.

With these fuel characteristics, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta GLP Turbo arrives in our country. As its name suggests, and as you would expect after we’ve gone on about it in the first paragraph, this Giulietta has an LPG-powered engine that also runs on petrol, making it a bi-fuel engine. As a result, its range and running costs are the inverse of those of a standard petrol or diesel engine. Why? An LPG “litre” costs half as much as a litre of petrol or diesel.

Furthermore, the car’s performance is in no way affected. The engine available is the 1.4 Turbo, capable of delivering up to 120 CV at 5,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 206 Nm at 1,750 rpm. It takes 10.3 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h and can reach a top speed of 195 km/h.

As for its equipment, the only trim level available will be the Distinctive. It comes as standard with LED front and rear headlights, as well as the Alfa DNA selector. This lets you change the car’s character across three different modes: Dynamic, for a sporty feel; Natural, for fuel-saving efficiency; and All-Weather, which further increases the level of safety.

It also comes, as you would expect, with VDC stability control, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, 16″ alloy wheels, a leather steering wheel, and audio controls on the steering wheel or a CD radio with MP3 playback.

It also comes with a free Premium Pack, which includes Bluetooth, USB, rear parking sensors, steering-wheel audio controls, rain sensors, and electrically folding mirrors and lights.

Prices

The price of this car is by no means excessive. To get the standard version, i.e. with the petrol engine, we would have to pay €22,800. To buy the LPG version, we would only need to add €2,100 to that figure, bringing the final price to €24,900.

However, at the moment, Alfa Romeo has launched a promotion that brings the car down to just €22,600, cheaper than the petrol version. And if we buy it with a part-exchange (trade-in), it comes down to €21,000.

It’s not a bad option…
