CXL Trimaran Concept, the boat from McLaren MP4-12C
McLaren has taken part in the development of a luxury catamaran, large, eco-friendly and fast, where its MP4-12C will be able to be housed.

On this blog we are used to writing about wheeled vehicles that normally travel along the road, but rules are made to be broken and today is one of those occasions. The culprit is the first boat developed jointly with McLaren. Other brands such as Audi, BMW, Porsche and Lancia have already taken part in building this kind of vehicle for the sea, and over in England they could not resist.
The CXL Trimaran, which is what it is called, is nothing more than a concept, but even so this maritime prototype shows promise. Its more than 150 tonnes of weight are no reason for this catamaran not to be eco-friendly and respectful of the environment. In fact, it is.

Normally it uses wind energy, although it can be fitted with an optional hybrid system made up of electric motors, lithium-ion batteries and, presumably, two good diesel generators, allowing a maximum speed of up to 15 knots.
Its more than 48 metres in length and 23 in width have been manufactured from lightweight materials such as carbon fibre with the sole aim of making it faster and more eco-friendly.
Its luxurious exterior is reflected in a simply perfect interior. It has a main cabin, four bedrooms and three crew cabins. There is also a living room, a dining room, a kitchen and an optional garage, perfect for the MP4-12C, the vehicle for which it was designed.
