The Aptera Typ-1 will be the first electric car affordable for everyone's pocket

As incredible as it may sound, it’s true: we can now give credit to statements made by some executives at Nissan claiming the low cost of their future electric cars.
The Aptera Typ-1 concept was initially presented as a plug-in hybrid, but recently it was decided to offer a fully electric version, leaving the hybrid model for a later time.
The car will initially be available only in California – information that contrasts with the fuel consumption of the North American state – at an approximate price of 17,180 euros at current exchange rates.
The electric car with a futuristic look will offer a range of 192 kilometres per charge, which is truly impressive given the low estimated cost of 3 dollars (almost 2 euros) per charge, which, translated into fuel consumption, would equate to an efficiency level greater than 1.47 L/100 km.
The small Californian company Aptera has managed to overcome logistical difficulties thanks to a cash investment of 24 million dollars, which has allowed the development of the electric version of the Typ-1 to accelerate.
For that reason, production of the car starts in December of this year, and the first deliveries are expected in early 2009.
