The Auris hybrid will go on sale in Germany in 2010

Following the remarkable success of the Toyota Prius, Toyota does not want to lose its advantage in the hybrid market and now presents the Auris, with the same hybrid system as the Prius. Finally, the adaptation of the powertrain has been as successful as Toyota had hoped, and that will arrive with the new Auris.

Based on the concept presented in Frankfurt with the Full Hybrid Concept, the hybrid Auris will make its way to Europe via Germany, where it will be sold at a starting price of 22,000 euros.

The Auris would be somewhat more expensive than the competition (which is becoming very fierce between these two brands), the Honda Insight, which sells for less than 20,000 euros.

If the new Auris includes certain details presented in Frankfurt, it will follow the same path as the Prius. For example, the photovoltaic cells on the roof that use sunlight as energy for certain vehicle functions (something that is beginning to become widespread) and that will already be present on the future Prius.
