The Beijing Motor Show will unveil the new Mazda CX-4

AMazda loves SUVs. Following the arrival of the CX-3 and CX-5, and after the latest addition of the CX-9, it’s now the turn of a more passionate model.
We’re talking about the CX-4, a more compact, balanced SUV whose design will be one of its greatest assets, without neglecting the SkyActiv technologies that have brought so much success to the Japanese brand.
There is still little information available about this new model, although the first details are beginning to emerge. Less than a year ago, at the last Frankfurt Motor Show, Mazda presented the Koeru, a concept with an SUV shape, measuring roughly 4.5 metres, which anticipated a more passionate and attractive side to the brand’s SUV range.

Now, as the Beijing Motor Show approaches, the people at Mazda have decided to release a teaser to capture the public’s attention. We can’t see much of the new model, but the curve of the rear windows is enough, when compared with images of the Koeru, to realise that its design won’t be very different.
According to internal sources at the brand, the CX-4 will share a good number of components with the CX-5, especially on the inside. The chassis will be practically the same, also using the same engines and transmissions. Although a more coupé-style design is expected, the CX-4 will maintain good interior space.
The possibility of a hypothetical MPS version cannot be ruled out, although at this stage it does not seem to be something imminent. The current Mazda range does not include any MPS version, as it seems the brand’s intention for some years now has been to restructure its entire offering, making the great technological leap by adopting SkyActiv measures.
