Attendees of Aire75, the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Spanish Air Force, will certainly know them. The aerobatic pilots of the Breitling Jet Team, sponsored by the Swiss watchmaker that gives them their name, attended this event as guests last year. In 2015 they will be touring Canada and the United States, an occasion that Bentley, Breitling’s partner since it designed the watch for the Continental GT in 2002, is using to pay them tribute through a limited edition of the GT Speed created by its Mulliner division.

The vehicle’s bodywork and cabin are decorated based on the livery of the Aero L-39 Albatros flown by the Breitling Jet Team. The colour scheme combines Hallmark grey with Onyx black for the bodywork, contrasted with the watchmaker’s signature yellow used to paint the lower lips of the bumpers and skirts, which also highlights the topstitching on the upholstery.

Seven units of the Continental GT Speed Breitling Jet Team will be built, and each will feature one of the aircraft in different parts of its interior. On the right panel of the carbon-fibre dashboard appears an illustration of the entire formation, with one particular jet highlighted in Breitling yellow. That same aircraft is embroidered on the headrests with stitching of the same colour alongside the unit’s number, which is also reflected on a metal plate beneath the doors.

The handover process of the car to its owner represents another of the GT Speed Breitling Jet Team’s unique features. Its future owners will receive the key directly from each pilot, not before having accompanied them on a flight aboard the same jet that features in the motifs of the example they have purchased. The event will take place on 31 July in Seattle, where the Breitling Jets will begin their North American summer schedule.
