The BMW M1 of Paul Walker has sold for $500,000
Paul Walker’s BMW M1 recently went up for auction as one of the most special cars in his collection. The highest bid was finally $500,000.
Paul Walker was one of the leading actors of this century after playing Brian O’Conner in the legendary Fast & Furious saga. His tragic death in 2013 shocked many, as at the young age of 40 he lost his life in a car accident alongside his friend Roger Rodas. However, beyond being known for his role in the saga, Walker was also famous for owning one of the most impressive car collections of all time, and a clear example of this is this BMW M1, which has been auctioned for 500,000 euros.
And it’s true that Paul Walker’s collection contained some very special cars, but it would not be far-fetched to consider the M1 the crown jewel. We must not forget that this supercar was born out of the need to homologate the competition version, giving it very specific specifications and a high degree of exclusivity.
In total, the Bavarian firm produced 453 BMW M1s, the 400 that were required to meet the Group 4 standards. This figure has made the German supercar highly sought after, also making it one of the most desired models of BMW. This particular unit was assembled in 1979 as a “normal, ordinary” road model; however, it was sent to AHG to be upgraded.

At this official brand dealership, the paint was changed to a tricolor scheme, new panels emulating those of the competition version were added, new wheels were fitted, and a leather interior was installed. In addition, the 3.5-litre six-cylinder inline engine underwent modifications that raised the power from 275 CV to 350 CV.
We must keep in mind that the BMW M1 that belonged to Paul Walker -which has also had other owners along the way- is in an apparently very good condition. It received a major service in 2018, in which the filters and oil were changed and a new battery was installed. In addition, this particular unit has covered only 6,800 kilometres.

Initially, the highest bid stood at $390,000, but it finally closed at $500,000, a considerably higher figure. And it’s not just because this BMW M1 belonged to Paul Walker, but because it is one of the most iconic and sought-after supercars from the German firm.
