The BMW Megacity is a project involving major investment

The German manufacturer announced that it will invest 400 million euros in its Leipzig plant in Germany. This facility will be upgraded with the equipment needed to produce the electric compact that the company plans to launch in 2013.
Let us recall that the BMW Megacity uses carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic as the basis of its architecture, a feature that will be seen for the first time in a city car. In addition, the performance of the small electric car (equipped with a 134 CV motor) is expected to win over consumers.
However, it is a fact that the price of the upcoming compact (with seating for four) will not be affordable for everyone, although it will undoubtedly be a proposal that raises the level of competition within the segment.
On the other hand, the car will be sold under a new brand, whose name is still being kept under wraps. Furthermore, production of the car will create 800 permanent jobs.
