The Chevy Volt will also be sold in China under the Buick brand

The Chevy Volt is entering the final stretch before GM officially launches it on the streets, and North Americans already know under which brands and in which markets the new hybrid car will be sold. In total, there are five different variants of the Volt that will be sold worldwide, including confirmation that Chinese buyers will also be able to have GM’s ace in their garage.
In China, the Chevrolet Volt would be sold under the Buick brand and named Ampera, officially becoming the Buick Ampera. Buick is practically GM’s flagship in China, with sales that exceed those of the North American market itself. All of this, and the fact that China has become the model market for everyone, makes it inevitable that the Volt will also have its almond-eyed variant.
GM was able to anticipate that the Buick Ampera will be practically identical to the Opel Ampera, the Volt variant to be sold in Europe and, incidentally, more eye-catching than the North American Volt. It is taken for granted that it will be technically identical to the original and to all of GM’s other variants, Opel and Holden around the world.
According to additional data, the Buick Ampera would go on sale in China almost at the same time or even first as the Chevy Volt in the USA, with all models manufactured at the same North American plant in Hamtramck, Detroit.
